ThePlaceToBe.net is a new search engine that enables people living
in or visiting Brighton & Hove to find information about the
city. This project is being co-ordinated by SCIP (Sussex Community
Internet Project) and the ThePlaceToBe's board of partners. The
search engine will find information on all the partner sites, either
by using the search facilities on partners' individual Web sites
or on the p2b.net portal.
As part of the process of determining the best way of presenting
search functions and results, SCIP asked me to produce a user experience
analysis report that examines 21 search engine sites and sites that
feature search facilities.
My 78-page report reviews these sites and analyses them to help
determine best practice for content searches. This will form the
basis for SCIP's ongoing design and development of ThePlaceToBe
partners' site searches.
