Nova Scotia hockey training camp looks to New Hamburg's Common Sense Design for its first Web site

A hockey training camp based in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, has just seen its first Web site go live, which was designed by New Hamburg's Nigel Gordijk of Common Sense Design.

Designed to appeal to an audience of young and enthusiastic hockey players, as well as their parents, Tomlinson Elite Hockey is run by former pro player Kirk Tomlinson, who is originally from Tottenham, ON. As well as running the camp, Tomlinson is also the Head Coach of the Halifax McDonalds Major Midget hockey team of the NSMMHL. He says: "I want to teach the game of hockey to young players. I believe that I have the experience and understanding of the game to do just that."

The new Web site shows Tomlinson's extensive experience, and provides details of the camp's courses and fees.

The site's designer, Nigel Gordijk, said: "Kirk needs the site to stay fresh and up to date, so I built an easy-to-use content management system into it. This enables him to update the site himself, without any technical knowledge."

Kirk's wife, Betts, originally contacted Common Sense Design after reviewing its previous work online. Gordijk said: "That just goes to show the power of the Internet. Since I moved to New Hamburg last year, I've continued to work with my clients in the England. Now I'm finding that distance doesn't have to be a problem whilst I'm working in a country the size of Canada."
